Holy Week

“Celebrating Holy Week is not an obligation, but it is an opportunity. It is a chance to walk with the church, throughout time and throughout the world, as she walks with her Bridegroom through the most important week in the history of the world. It is a chance to focus our minds on, and seek to intensify our affections for, the most important and timeless of realities.” – David Mathis

Holy Week at Delaware Bible Church is a special time in our church body each year where we gather together as a church family to remember Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection from death to life together as a church body. Holy Week at DBC includes three worship services:

Palm Sunday – 3/24/24 – 9:00 a.m. & 10:45 a.m.

Holy week begins on Palm Sunday as we remember the life of Christ and celebrate his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Bible study classes for all ages are available at 9:15 a.m. Adult Bible study classes are also offered at 10:45 a.m. Identical blended worship services will be held at 9:00 a.m. & 10:45 a.m. If you have children age 4 and above joining you they will be dismissed during the service to their classes. Children from birth – age 1 may be dropped  off in the nursery prior to the service. Children age 2-3 may be dropped off at the 2s and 3s classroom before the service as well.   Several church LIFE Groups (small groups) will be meeting in the late afternoon and evening as well as throughout the week.

Good Friday – 3/29/24 – 7:00 p.m.

On Good Friday we remember the death of Jesus on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  An evening service will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and will include Communion.

Easter Sunday – 3/31/24 – 9:00 a.m. & 10:45 a.m.

Easter Sunday is a celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the tomb. We gather to celebrate Jesus’ victory over sin and death and the path that we now have to a restored relationship with God because of Jesus.

A casual,come-and-go carry-in breakfast will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room and Commons. The church will provide juice, coffee, fruit, and pastries while those attending are encouraged to bring a breakfast dish to share.

Identical Easter Sunday Celebration  Services will begin at 9:00 a.m. & 10:45 a.m. and will include a blended worship service full of songs both old and new celebrating our Savior as well as a relevant message from God’s Word from our Pastor. Nursery care and children’s church services will be provided for children in 3rd grade and under during both worship services. Children from birth – age 1 may be dropped  off in the nursery prior to the service. Children age 2-3 may be dropped off at the 2s and 3s classroom before the service as well. There will be no evening service on Easter Sunday.

Whether you’re a church regular or it’s been a long time (if ever) since you’ve attended a worship service you’re invited to join us as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection.

Note: Easter Sunday is normally one of our largest attended services of the year so we encourage you to arrive to the worship service at least 10-15 minutes early!
