 Sacrifice Sunday 2020

SACRIFICE SUNDAY IS NOW OVER BUT YOU MAY STILL CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THIS PROJECT UNTIL 12/31/20

Sacrifice Sunday is one Sunday throughout the year where our congregation prayerfully considers what the Lord would have them give above and beyond their normal offering to help fund the needs of several projects presented by our Elder Board. This year’s Sacrifice Sunday Goal is $41,000. Some of the money given will serve the needs of others, and some will serve needs here at DBC. If less than $41,000 is collected, then the projects will be funded in the following order.

Biblical Counseling Training – $12,500
DBC will host a regional Biblical Counseling Training Conference in the fall of 2021 over three weekends (Sept. 10-11, Oct. 8-9, Nov. 12-13). The first $12,500 collected will pay for all Delaware Bible Church and Delaware Christian School staff members to attend the conference. It also will provide scholarships for DBC members and others who wish to attend but who may need financial help.

Impact Week – $5,000
After $12,500 is collected, the next $5,000 will fund Impact Week 2021 as we seek to be a blessing and encouragement to our community. This year’s Impact Week will focus on local Delaware City Schools and Delaware Christian School teachers, whose workloads have dramatically increased due to COVID-19.

  • Half of any money left over from Impact Week will be added to the Benevolent Fund.
  • The other half of the leftover money will be added to the fund that provides scholarships for DBC students who wish to attend a spiritual retreat or camp but who may need financial help.

Camp & Retreat Fund – $2,000
After $17,500 is collected, the next $2,000 will help provide scholarships for DBC students who wish to attend a spiritual retreat or camp but who may need financial help.

Benevolent Fund – $1,500
After $19,500 is collected, the next $1,500 will aid in funding the Delaware Bible

Church Benevolent Fund, which provides monetary support to those in our church family and from the community who are in need of help.
Note: The Benevolent Fund is funded specifically by gifts from the congregation. No church budget money is regularly budgeted toward this fund.

Awana Track & Equipment – $2,000
After $21,000 is collected, the next $2,000 will pay for a new Awana track, track timer, and racetrack software for the Awana Grand Prix.

  • The Awana Grand Prix is an annual event at DBC, usually held in March. It attracts the largest number of unchurched parents—and thus gives us the greatest opportunity to present the Gospel—during the Awana year.
  • Our current track (which has been used for well over a decade) is now in disrepair. The new track will be lighter, more durable, and easier to store.

HVAC Heat Wheel – $18,000
After $23,000 is collected, the final $18,000 will pay for a new HVAC heat wheel. It will be installed in the 300 Building to help dehumidify and aid the efficiency of the HVAC unit in that building. (Note: This project will be done in addition to the upcoming summer HVAC project, which will be paid for out of reserve funds. These are two separate projects.)

Total Goal: $41,000
  • SACRIFICE SUNDAY IS NOW OVER BUT YOU MAY STILL CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THIS PROJECT UNTIL 12/31/20
  • When it’s time to give, mark your check or envelope “Sacrifice Sunday.” Any checks or envelopes not marked will go into the DBC General Fund.
  • GIVE ONLINE. Make sure to click Sacrifice Sunday in the “FUND” section. All gifts not marked Sacrifice Sunday will go into the DBC General Fund.
  • Currently, 180 families are listed in the church directory. For perspective, if every family listed in the directory gave $228 above and beyond their normal financial gifts to the church, we would surpass our goal.
  • Share any questions or concerns by contacting Pastor Brad Harris (EMAIL PASTOR BRAD) or the Church Office.
